How the public transport works in Barcelona

METRO
Barcelona has two types of underground transport: the metro, with five lines, and the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya trains (FGC), with two metropolitan lines and four interurban lines. Metro Timetables: From Monday to Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays and Holiday Eves: 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.; Sundays: 6:00 a.m. to 12 a.m. and other public holidays: from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. FGC Timetables: From Monday to Thursday: 5:50 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays: 5:55 a.m. to 2:15 a.m. Sundays and Holidays: 5:50 a.m. to 12:02 a.m. For further information, call 010 and 906 42 70 17 or check at http://www.tmb.net

BUS
Buses are not as fast as the metro but they allow you to sightsee the city. The route followed is shown in the bus stops. Bus Timetables: From Monday to Sunday: 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. For further information, call 010 or check at http://www.tmb.net

NITBUS
Night Bus Timetables: From Monday to Sunday: 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., with a frequency service of 30 to 45 minutes. All of them pass by Plaça Catalunya.

TAXI
Taxis with the green light on mean they are free and you only need to raise your hand to stop one of them. The taximeter shows the price to pay, but there are some authorised extra charges (for example, when you go to the airport, you pay for the luggage you are carrying). More than 4 passengers are not allowed. In order to ask for a taxi, you can call any of the following telephone numbers: 93 225 00 00 93 490 22 22 93 330 08 04 93 212 22 22 93 358 11 11 93 300 38 11
