Picasso lived in Barcelona during his first youth. In this period of time, he used to go to a bar named “Els Quatre Gats” where he experimented literary gatherings with Catalan artists as important as Ramón Casas or Santiago Rusiñol. In this museum, the visitor will be able to contemplate the works by this 20th Century genius.

The Museum holds the most important Catalan art collection. It exhibits a great selection of works from the Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque periods as well as works from the 19th and 20th Centuries. It is also remarkable the Francesc Cambó collection including works which cover all the history of the European painting: from the 14th Century to the beginning of the 19th Century.

The Fundació Joan Miró opened in 1976 designed by the architect Josep Lluís Sert. The Foundation holds the works by Joan Miró. It also exhibits the works given by the Miró family as well as the series of works by Miró which were donated by Joan Prats.
